Central Texas baby deer, not your usual newborn photography

The image of this spotted newborn emphasizes the natural in my style of photography. Newborn deer in a Central Texas fieldA baby deer is both fragile and wild. Such an amazing combination of all things beautiful. Grammy found a baby buck in her pecan orchard. Of course, now he's known as "Bambi"--I suppose that name just happens when you become mommy to a baby with white spots, spindly legs, a flipped up tail, coal black nose, and, well, doe eyes.

Grammy has been feeding Bambi with a bottle. Early on, as when this image was taken, he was so scared that he was simultaneously drinking from the bottle and trying to run away. He was visibly fighting instinct to stay and get the nourishment he desperately needed. Seeing that internal battle happening for the first time, I found myself truly understanding the obvious, "Oh my goodness, it's a wild animal."

But Grammy was patient and talked softly. And now Bambi drinks calmly, and Grammy's kittens dance underneath his chin waiting for any spills.

Lovin this pic of Bambi! I have lots of deer that make appearances in North East Ohio, but they all run away! What a treasure to capture this sweet buck. Lovely
